The Vanthorpe cricket team, made up of top players from the Vanuatu national side and domestic league, has been making waves in the SDCA & iComply T20 Cricket League. Featuring Andrew Mansale, Nasimana Navaika, Valenta Langiatu, Apolinaire Stephen, Obed Yosef, Rival Samson, Eddie Mansale, Zechariah Kalo Shem, Kenny Tari, Mac Millian Marika, and Junior Kaltapau, the team has shown immense skill and passion throughout the competition.
With support from iComply CEO Rod Prestia and a strong partnership with the Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA), the players have successfully balanced their seasonal work with cricket, delivering standout performances on the field.
In their match against RSL, Vanthorpe produced a sensational performance. Batting first, they posted an imposing total of 279/3 in their 20 overs. Andrew Mansale was the star of the show, smashing an incredible 195 runs off 69 balls, narrowly missing a double century. His innings included a remarkable 20 sixes and 10 fours, as he completely dominated the RSL bowling attack and set an almost unbeatable target.
RSL, in reply, had no answer to Vanthorpe’s bowlers. Vanthorpe’s bowlers kept the pressure on, and RSL was bowled out for just 59 runs in 15.3 overs, handing Vanthorpe a massive 220-run victory. The bowlers’ relentless effort ensured that RSL could never get going, sealing a dominant win for Vanthorpe.
Mansale’s record-breaking performance was the highlight of the match. "We’re here to showcase Vanuatu cricket, and it’s great to see the team come together and play such an outstanding game," Mansale said after the victory.
