The 2024 Francophonie Day Cup concluded yesterday at the Vanuatu Cricket Grounds, where six teams vied for the Cup. Among them were Imaki, Ifira, Erakor, Vila North, Eratap, and a newly formed Eton team. After fierce competition, Imaki and Vila North emerged victorious to face off in the Grand Final.
Ultimately, Imaki secured the Cup for the second consecutive year, earning 15,000 Vatu, while Vila North, the runners-up, received 14,000 Vatu. Ifira claimed the third-place prize of 13,000 Vatu and Erakor claimed fourth place to claim 10,000 Vatu.
In addition to team prizes, individual awards were presented to recognize outstanding player performances. The Best Batter, Best Bowler, Best Runner, and Best Fielder awards were also bestowed upon exceptional players whose skill and dedication shone throughout the tournament.
The event, which saw teams and individuals claim prizes totalling 60,000 Vatu, was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Ministry of Education and the Honourable Minister Anatole Hymak, for which the Vanuatu Cricket Association extends its heartfelt gratitude.
