Excitement builds as Vanuatu Cricket proudly presents the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu Women’s Team for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi, starting April 25th and concluding May 7th.
After their remarkable display at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup EAP Qualifier, hosted at the Vanuatu Cricket Grounds in Port Vila late last year, the team is now primed for the ultimate challenge. Competing against elite squads from across the globe in a fierce 2-group round-robin format, with successful teams securing passage to the playoffs with the top two teams of the competition securing a coveted spot in the T20 World Cup.
In Group B, Vanuatu braces for stiff competition, clashing with powerhouses like Ireland, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, and Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, Group A showcases formidable opponents such as Sri Lanka, the USA, Uganda, Thailand, and Scotland.
National Women’s Head Coach, Joshua Rasu commented:
“After the success of the EAP Qualifiers, I'm incredibly proud of what the team has achieved, including defeating long-standing rivals like Papua New Guinea, ranked 11th globally, for the first time.
