Vanuatu Cricket Association regrets to announce the unfortunate resignation of High-Performance Manager, Ben Cameron.
Cameron will depart the role January 31, eight months into an initial contract due to conclude at the end of 2023, due to family reasons.
Vanuatu Cricket CEO Tim Cutler said Cameron will be missed.
"After navigating a tricky time with our borders still being shut up until July last year Ben was able to bond with the players quickly and his input and leadership was key in the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu Men's National Cricket Team winning their first international tournament on home soil for over a decade.
"Moreover, his focus on helping to develop the pathway for talented young cricketers into our national teams was crucial as we approach qualifiers for the Under 19 World Cups," Cutler concluded.
Cameron expressed his thanks to the Association.
"From the moment I was appointed last March, it has been a privilege working with the VCA in 2022, which was not only about winning games of cricket for the national teams, but also supporting the development of a strong pathway for young cricketers to identify and invest in the next wave of talent.
"The experience of connecting with players and VCA staff has been life changing, which will influence the next phase of my career. I wish the players, VCA and the new coach all the best in what is an exciting 2023 ahead."
In addition to Cameron, former national player - a dual national representative across cricket and soccer - Men's Assistant Coach Eddie Mansale also departed the Association in December after almost six years' service to pursue an exciting opportunity within the Vanuatu Government.
The VCA would like to express its thanks to both individuals and wishes them all the best with their future endeavours.
With a full schedule in 2023, including the ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia Pacific Regional Final in July, the VCA will commence the recruitment process for a new High Performance Manager / Head Coach as soon as possible and details will be released shortly.
