Amelia Lawac, a key figure in Vanuatu’s cricketing community with over 12 years of service as Administration Manager for the Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA), is set to represent her nation on the global stage. She has been selected to participate in the prestigious ICC 100% Cricket Future Leaders Programme, an initiative aimed at developing the next generation of women leaders in cricket.
The 10-month programme, primarily conducted online, includes two in-person workshops, the first of which will take place in Dubai. During her seven-day stay, Amelia will join participants from around the world for hands-on leadership training, immersive learning sessions, and collaborative projects designed to advance women’s cricket. She will also attend the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final, offering her the opportunity to witness elite-level cricket and network with global sports leaders. This experience will equip her with valuable tools and insights to further develop cricket in Vanuatu.
Amelia’s selection is not only a personal milestone but also a significant achievement for Vanuatu cricket. The knowledge and experience she gains from the ICC programme will be crucial as she continues her work promoting and developing women’s cricket back home. Her long-standing commitment to the game makes her the ideal representative for Vanuatu, and her participation underscores the nation’s growing influence in international cricket, ensuring that women’s cricket in the Pacific continues to flourish.
